GREEN PAGES STATE REPORT Status: Adopted Action: Report sent into GPUS on 2/13/2006. Description: Background ----------- Since last July 2005 when the current Executive Council was elected, we've done a great deal of work. We've organized one state meeting, sent a county-wide mailing to all Clark County registered Greens, revamped and updated the website, secured a bank account, initiated contact and correspondance with the Nevada Secretary of State, developed an online e-mail meeting procedure so we can efficiently make daily decisions regarding the Green Party of Nevada, opened up this process for all registered Greens to observe and scrutinize, started the process for creating a candidate handbook, and started to organize for the state convention on March 25-26, 2006. This is a lot of work for such a small group of people to have accomplished. It's not only the work itself that's important, but the way we've done it. All of our decisions have been made through consensus and we've encouraged the most participation possible with every decision. We're even beginning to get involved at the national level with the Green Party of the United States. These are all serious accomplishments that deserve to be recognized even though we have a great deal of work still to do. Prosposal ----------- Send the following to the Green Pages contact person for state reports: The Green Party of Nevada is rebuilding. So far, they've focused on strengthening the infrastructure of the party. They've done this by encouraging attendance at state meetings, asking for more participation on e-mail lists, and suggesting volunteer opportunites that help build the party. Most recently, the Executive Council of the Green Party of Nevada unveiled an online section of the website in coordination with an Executive Council e-mail list so that registered Greens may monitor not only the voting and end result of Executive Council decision-making process, but the actual process itself, including discussions, debates, and deliberations. The Executive Council hopes this will increase participation in the Green Party of Nevada and at the same time, it will take the Green Party of Nevada down the path to true transparent leadership. The Executive Council recently adopted a resolution to create a candidate's handbook. This handbook is going to be used in order to assist candidates for city, county, and state offices as they take the plunge into electoral politics and carry out their campaigns. While the Executive Council works on the candidate's handbook, they'll also be spreading the word about and planning the next state convention. The convention will be held in Las Vegas, NV at the Las Vegas Library, March 25-26, 2006 from 10am to 6pm both days. The Executive Council is working hard to make this event a safe space for Nevada registered Greens to meet one another and get involved. By the end of the convention, the Executive Council expects at least one candidate for governor and a strong plan with committment to action that will continue to build the Green Party of Nevada. Time Frame ---------- The due date for submissions is 2/15/2006 so please make a comment, question, change, yea, nea, or abstain vote by 2/13/2006. Quorum Needed: Consensus of 3 out of 4 Executive Council Members Outcome: Craig Bergland - Yes Bob Giaquinta - Yes Jason Halprin - Yes Charles Imboden - Not Present II. NEVADA STATE ASSOCIATE TO CCC Status: Open for Discussion Action: None. Description: Background ----------- The Coordinated Campaign Committee of the Green Party of the United States (GPUS) is updating their records regarding the Nevada State Associate. By appointing a State Associate, the Green Party of Nevada will have more information to use towards our candidate handbook and we will add one more way that we are participating with the GPUS. For more information regarding the specific duties of the State Associate, go here: http://www.gp.org/committees/campaign/stateassociate.shtml Prosposal ----------- Remove the past State Associates, Paul Etxeberri and Eva Laws.
